This function is used to alter and/or extend the original master copy of application messages, given by the system back-end.  Messages can be changed to be better suited or more explanatory in terminology used in your company.

 

It is also used to translate a message into other languages giving a user the message in his/her language preference as specified on the screen Employee Information .

 

NOTE: The original master copy cannot be changed.

 

INQUIRE

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Application Messages with an access allowed of Inquire.

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Application Messages with an access allowed of Add.

 

The "Add" button is enabled when a new number is entered. When the "Add" button is clicked, the new number, language, and message is inserted into the Application Messages table.

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN ADDING:

 

1.A message number must be between 60000 and 99999.

 

2.The message must be longer than three characters.

 

3.The language must be either Original Master Copy "O", English "E", Italian "I", French "F", Spanish "S", or German "G".

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Application Messages with an access allowed of Change.

 

The "Change" button is enabled when an existing record is changed.  When the "Change" button is clicked, the table Application Messages is updated with the new data.

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN CHANGING:

 

1.A message number must be between 60000 and 99999.

 

2.The message must be longer than three characters.

 

3.The language must be either Original Master Copy "O", English "E", Italian "I", French "F", Spanish "S", or German "G".

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Application Messages with an access allowed of Delete.

 

The "Delete" button is enabled when an existing number is selected.  When the "Delete" button is clicked, the selected record is deleted from the Application Messages table.

 

This operation will not be performed where "Language" is, equal to Original Master Copy (O) i.e. original (supplied) messages may never be deleted.

hmtoggle_plus1Error Message

This setting indicates whether the application message is an error message or not.  When checked, it indicates that the selected application message is an error message.

 

Any function displaying an application message set as an error message will display a red flashing cross.  Most functions will force the correction of the error.  Some functions will allow the user to continue regardless of the error message.

 

This setting is not editable by the user.

It is populated with the language code from the Language Code table and display the language description, for example, (E) English, (I) Italian, and (O) Original Master Copy etc.

This field is used to alter the original master copy message or to describe the message in another language.

 

It is an alphanumeric field where the length must be between 3 and 255 characters (mandatory).

hmtoggle_plus1Number

It is populated with the message numbers and the descriptions from the Application Message table, for the selected "Language", for example, if (I) Italian is chosen, it only populates with message numbers that have a language of (I).

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).

 

It is a numeric key field used in conjunction with the "Language" field, that must range between 60000 and 99999 characters.

When the "Reset" button is clicked, the system will display the original master copy message pertaining to the message number and language.
