The By-product Definition function is used to set-up expected production 'By-product' definitions. By-products are linked to an original planned production part/product. The set-up of these definitions will be the rules applied by part/product which will define what percentages of the planned product production yield, labour and material costs will be journalised to the cost of the By-Product against the resulting income statements. This will reduce the cost of the order line part by the amount of material yielded. When a production order is created for a product that yields the by products, records for the by products are inserted in the Order_Line_By_Product table and visible on the By Products tab on the Order Master function. If the by products are serialized or lot controlled, serial and lot number linking will happen in the same way as for the original product.
On this tab the following fields can be viewed:
The percentage of the expected yield of by-product from the planned production of the original planned part as defined in the 'Original Planned Part Number' field.
By Products will cause the order to yield proportionately less of the original order line part. To compensate the By-Product percentage yield will be added to the order quantity to ensure that the order still yields the original required quantity. |
The description of the by-product part number as set-up in the Part Master function. |
The by-product part number is the part number to be linked to the original planned production part as defined in the original planned part number field. The by-product will have the same part structure as the original planned part as set-up in the Part Master and Product Structure functions. It can have the same part description as the original planned production part but must be a different part number. |
After completing the set-up of the by-product, click on the 'Change' button to confirm the link. All updates are recorded on the By_Product_Definition table. |
The description that populates this field will be that of the original planned part number as set-up in the part master function. |
Percentage of the labour cost for allocation to the by-product. |
Percentage of the material cost for allocation to the by-product. |
The 'Linked By-Product' grid will display all the by-products by part number, description and definitions such as % yield, % labour, % material cost by linked by-product.
Columns in List Box:
Part Number This column will list the part number/s of the by-products linked to the selected original planned part.
Description This is the description of by-product as set-up in the 'Part Master' function
By-Product Yield % The percentage value as set-up in the By-Product Yield % field above
Inclusive of Labour % The percentage value as set-up in the Inclusive of Labour % field above
Inclusive of Material % The percentage value as set-up in the Inclusive of Material % field above. |
Clicking on the (add button) button will add the link between the original part number and the by-product number. Details will be displayed in the list box below this. The links will be recorded in the By_Product_Definition table. |
Original Planned Part Number is the planned production part as defined in the Part Master and product structure functions. It is the part / product from which the by-product will be the result.
The Original Planned Part Number field should be populated with the original planned part number to which the expected by-product is to be linked. |
Select the required by-product part number from the grid below by clicking on it. Click on the (remove) button will unlink the selected by-product from the original planned part number selected in the 'Original Planned Part Number' box above. The links will be removed from the By_Product_Definition table. |
