This tab is use to create Commodity Codes, Link them to parent Commodity Codes and add some rules to each Commodity Code. Read the Function Help to understand the principles and refer to each field to understand their working.

On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

hmtoggle_plus1Add

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Commodity Codes with an access allowed of Add.

The "Add" button is enabled if a commodity code, that does not exist in the Commodity Codes table, is entered in the code field.

When the "Add" button is clicked, the new code, differential vat, and the description is inserted into the Commodity Master table.

BUSINESS RULES WHEN ADDING:

1.                The differential vat must be between 0 and the Tax Percentage Max specified on the System Configuration table.

2.                The commodity code may not be spaces.

3.                The commodity description must be 3 or more characters.

hmtoggle_plus1Change

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Commodity Codes with an access allowed of Change.

The "Change" button is enabled when an existing commodity code is selected.  When the "Change" button is clicked, the description and the differential vat percentage on the Commodity Master table is updated.

BUSINESS RULES WHEN CHANGING:

1.                The differential vat must be between 0 and the Tax Percentage Max specified on the System Configuration table.

2.                The commodity code may not be spaces.

3.                The commodity description must be 3 or more characters.

hmtoggle_plus1Code

The field is populated with the Commodity Code and description from the Commodity Master Table.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populated length". The number of characters is limited to 6.

This Commodity Code is used to group parts i.e. all the hand held electrical components may have the same commodity codes and free standing another, they may have the same "Parent Code".

This code is mainly used for inventory analysis when the tabs, Linked Parts and Dangerous Goods Items is opened.

hmtoggle_plus1Commodity Grouping Code

This field can be used to link Commodity Codes to a subscribed standard Grouping Code.

hmtoggle_plus1Dangerous Goods Regulation

This frame contains settings that can identify a commodity that has a Hazard Classification and is subject to International regulations regarding the marking, packing, identification, handling and transportation of hazardous goods.

The functionality is based on the guidelines provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to which the majority of International airlines subscribe.

To identify a commodity as one having linked parts that may be subject to Dangerous goods regulations, select a Hazard Classification in the field provided.

The list will display valid hazard division codes as defined via the Dangerous goods regulation function.

If a hazard classification has been selected, UN ID numbers that were linked to the selected Hazard division code via the Dangerous goods regulation function will also be displayed for selection, but this is optional.

All part numbers linked to a selected commodity code, (where the part was identified as a dangerous goods item and the classification option for the part specified that the commodity code settings must be applied), will inherit the commodity code's settings for its hazard classification.

hmtoggle_plus1Delete

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Commodity Codes with an access allowed of Delete.

The "Delete" button is enabled when an existing commodity code is selected.

When the "Delete" button is clicked, the selected commodity code record is deleted from the Commodity Master table.

This operation will not be performed if the Commodity Code exists on any of the following tables:

Table Name

 Field Name

 Part Master

 Commodity Code

 Facility

 Commodity Code

hmtoggle_plus1Description

This field displays the description of the selected commodity code from the Commodity Master table.

It is a short descriptive name for the commodity code selected.

The length must be between 3 and 50 characters (mandatory).

hmtoggle_plus1Discrete Project Mrp Default

This frame provides 2 options regarding the discrete planning of parts of a selected commodity code by MRP.

Discrete planning relates to identification of a contract project on suggested MRP replenishment orders and extending the project identification to stock level.

Such project identification is important if different projects applying the same part number, has different requirements regarding the part's marking, surface treatment, quality standards or other criteria.

Thus, if discrete project planning is selected, MRP will suggest orders by project rather than for net requirements and the resulting stock will only be available for the project itself, as well as for other projects in the same project group or to projects that allow receipts from other projects outside of it's own group.

If discrete planning is not selected, MRP will plan for collective requirements irrespective of projects and the resulting stock would be available for use by any project. This may well be applied to commodities of items that are never subject to project specific requirements and are thus available for use by any project. Typical commodity classes may include raw materials, forgings, tools, consumables and others.

The options are:

Yes, plan discrete replenishments per project  (value 'Y' in table)

Select this option to ensure discrete project planning and identification for parts linked to a specific commodity code. This option is also applied as the default.

No, discrete replenishments per project not required  (value N in table)

Select this option if discrete project planning and identification is not required for parts linked to a specific commodity code.

Enforce default

Check this box to enforce the default  rule for all the parts in the commodity code.

If the commodity code enforces it's setting on all parts in the commodity, the only setting that will be permitted for a part is to apply the setting as per it's commodity code. This is also applied as the default setting.

Parts that are linked to a commodity where the commodity code option is set to enforce the rule, will be auto-updated as and when a commodity is changed to enforce the commodity setting for discrete project planning.

If the default is not to be enforced, UN-check the box.

This will indicate that the default is only a suggestion for parts in the commodity code group and will thus allow parts to deviate from the default setting.

Also see Part Master for the setting relating to discrete project MRP.

hmtoggle_plus1Parent Code

This field is applied to group commodity codes into parent codes for the purpose of reporting at a higher or corporate level.

The list of codes already specified is displayed for selection.

You may select an existing parent group or type a new parent (which will then become available for selection on other commodities as well).

The field allows up to 6 characters to be entered.

hmtoggle_plus1Reporting Uom

This field displays valid Units if measure from the Unit of Measure function.

The field is applied to report on sales, purchasing and inventory by commodity and to express the quantities (and value if required) in a standard unit of measure for a commodity.

To achieve this, parts linked to the commodity where the part has a different UOM than the Reporting UOM of the commodity, will require a Part UOM conversion to enable conversion of quantities and values to the Reporting UOM.

hmtoggle_plus1Shelf Life Expiry Warn/Notification Detail

In this frame settings can be change to fit the specific Shelf Life Expiry periods per Commodity Code.

hmtoggle_plus1Tax Code

This is a field that displays Tax Codes that can be linked to a Commodity Codes. It will populate with all the currently active Tax Codes from the Tax Code table and displays the Tax Code,

the Description and the Tax Percentage.
