The Grouping tab is used to link Cost Centres to groups and to define new groups to which Cost Centres can be linked.  The grouping can be done for reporting purposes or for visibility of a functional group to which a Cost Centre belongs (groups may be, Production, Engineering, Finances, Administration etc).

 

On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Cost Centre with an access allowed of Change.

 

The Add button is enabled when Group(s) To Which Cost Centre Is Linked is selected and a Cost Centre group is selected in the Cost Centre Group combo.

 

When the Add button is clicked, the selected group is added to the list box.  The Cost Centre and the grouping code are inserted in the Cost Centre Grouping table.

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN ADDING:

 

1.        A grouping code must be selected.

2.        A Cost Centre must be selected.

3.        If new, add the grouping code before linking it to the cost centre.

When Group(s) To Which Cost Centre Belongs is selected, it is populated with the Cost Centre group codes from the Cost Centre Grouping table for the selected Cost Centre.

 

When Cost Centres Linked to Group is selected, it is populated with the Cost Centre and description from the Cost Centre Grouping and the Cost Centre tables where the grouping code is equal to the selected grouping code.

This is a user-defined code used to group Cost Centres, for financial reporting.  Examples of groupings include Production, Development, Marketing, Production Support etc.

 

When Group(s) To Which Cost Centre Belongs is selected, it is populated with Cost Centre group codes from the Cost Centre Grouping table, where the  selected Cost Centre is not linked to the group code.

 

When Cost Centres Linked to Group is selected, it is populated with Cost Centre group code from the Cost Centre Grouping table where the group code matches the group code entered.

 

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of populate length.

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Cost Centre with an access allowed of Change.

 

The Remove button is enabled when a group is selected in the list box.  When the option is Group(s) To Which Cost Centre Is Linked and Remove is clicked, the Cost Centre group for the selected Cost Centre is deleted from the list.

         

When the option is Cost Centres Linked To Group and Remove is clicked, the Cost Centre selected in the list box is deleted from the Cost Centre Group selected.

 

This operation will not be performed if the grouping code and/or the Cost Centre is not entered.
