Crating To Production

Training Manuals Alphabetical Function List Back Print this Topic Previous topicOne level upNext topic
Show/Hide Hidden Text

This function is applied to fully/partially remove the quantity that was crated for one or more customer order lines. A successful movement will thus adjust the contents of the specified crate and the remaining contents can be viewed on the Crate function.

The crated quantity of the customer order line will also be down-adjusted as can be viewed on the Customer Orders function.

The quantities are displayed in both the base unit of measure and contractual unit of measure (which will obviously be the same unless the customer order line has an applicable UOM conversion).

The option is also provided to not only remove the contents of the crate, but to also return the items to the store(s) and location(s)  from which the stock was originally issued.

NOTE: The option is only available for customer order lines that have a product code where Automatic Backflushing of Components is has been switched on).

1.  The system validates that a valid division, customer order, customer and crate is selected and that a valid return quantity has been specified.

2.  The system checks to see if the parent serial or lot numbers are linked on the Stores to Order Requirements movement.

3.  The Order Line table is updated by down-adjusting the crated quantity. The fields that are updated include both the "Quantity in Inspection Crated" and "Contractual Qty In Inspection Crated" which are  both respectively down-adjusted by the "Base Quantity" and "Contract Quantity" in the grid.

4. The movement is inserted into the Movement table and the quantity returned against the original crating movement, is increased by the quantity specified in the Base Quantity column in the grid.

5.  If the "return components" option in the grid has been checked, the stored procedure Components_Return is executed.  If you are not using the front end for updates,  for the value Return_Components pass the value '1' and the procedure "Execute Component_Return" will be executed within the main storeprocedure without sending it any extra values.

The Stored Procedure reverses the issue of components (returns them back to the store/location they were issued from) in the ratio of the old order quantity complete + crated versus the new order quantity complete + crated.

This is performed by reading the movement's record for issues to this order line from each of the order line requirements. Order lines without "Exploded Requirements" will contain a single requirement for the order line part number, as opposed to lines with "Exploded Requirements" which will contain as many requirements as were needed to assemble/manufacture the order line part directly against the customer order line.

hmtoggle_plus1Crated Lines Available to Return

The grid is populated with available customer order lines once a valid crate has been selected.

Since a crate relates to a specific customer order, the lines in the grid will be order lines of the same customer order that have been crated by applying the selected crate number and that still forms part of the crate contents in the sense that quantities that have originally been crated have not been fully reversed.

If some lines that were assumed to be populated do not appear in the grid, select a later date for Completion Date Till, since certain lines may have been crated long before their specified completion dates and falls outside of the Completion Date Till horizon.

The following detail is displayed for every row in the grid:

SELECT

Click this check box to select a line that is to be fully or partially returned.

LINE

Displays the line number of the customer order that has been crated.

SHIP DATE

Displays the current ship date (completion date) as specified for the customer order line on the Order Line table.

BASE QUANTITY

The base quantity originally displays the maximum quantity that can be returned as and when the grid is populated. This quantity is expressed in the part's unit of measure as displayed in the column Base UOM column.

Type the full or partial quantity to be returned in this column.  Typing of another value will automatically recalculate the quantity in the "Contract Quantity" column as expressed in the "Contractual UOM".

The values for the two quantity columns will be the same, unless the customer order line has a unit of measure conversion in which case the "Base UOM" and "Contractual UOM" values will differ.

BASE UOM

Displays the stock unit of measure as defined for the order line part number on its Part Master record. The "Base Quantity" to be returned must be expressed in this unit of measure.

CONTRACT QUANTITY

The contract quantity originally displays the maximum quantity that can be returned as and when the grid is populated. This quantity is expressed in the contractual unit of measure as displayed in the column "Contractual UOM".

Typing of another value in the "Base Quantity" will automatically recalculate this quantity in the "Contract Quantity" column as expressed in the "Contractual UOM". The values for the two quantity columns will be the same, unless the customer order line has a unit of measure conversion in which case the "Base UOM" and "Contractual UOM" values will differ.

CONTRACTUAL UOM

The contractual unit of measure as defined for the order line in the Order Line table. The "Contractual quantity" to be returned is expressed in this unit of measure.

TYPE

This column displays the order line type as additional information and will identify the customer order line as a product sale, spares sale, repair or customer special.

PART NUMBER

Displays the part number that was crated as defined for the order line in the grid. The part number will be blank for customer special lines since this line type does not have a part number.

LINE DESCRIPTION

The description of the order line that was crated, as defined in the Order Line table.

RETURN COMPONENTS

This option is by default unchecked.

It is enabled if the selected customer order line has a product code where Automatic Backflushing of Components is switched on.

If unchecked, the Movement function will remove the contents as specified from the crate but will assume that it remains on the production/dispatch floor to be crated, shipped or returned to store at a later stage.

If checked, all components originally issued for the purpose of crating to this order line will be returned to the store and location from which they were originally issued, taking into account the requirements ratio of the quantity returned and the new order line quantity complete + crated after the movement.

NOTE: If a negative location was created by the forward movement, which was subsequently set to a positive location on hand quantity by other movements, the return movement will still return the stock to the location "backflushing" and such occurrences should be dealt with by transferring the stock to the proper location.

If the product on the order line does not participate in back flushing the check box is disabled.

If through the application of the ratio checker sensitivity percentage, less components than the percentage determined by the ratio checker were originally issued to the order line, the function will regard the first order line parts to be returned as the incomplete sets.

CONTRACT NUMBER

The contract number of the selected Customer order. The number is often the same as the customer order number, but since they may differ, the contract number is the actual order number as specified by the customer and as defined on the Order Master record of the selected Customer order.

CONTRACT LINE

The contract line number of the Customer order line in the grid. The number is often the same as the customer order line number, but since they may differ, the contract line number is the actual line number as specified in the customer's purchasing documents and as defined on the Order Line record of the customer order line.

hmtoggle_plus1Crate Number

The crate number must be specified and identifies the crate of which the contents (or a portion thereof) is to be returned to production. Only crates for the selected customer order number will be displayed for selection.

Once a valid crate has been selected, the "Crated Lines Available To Return" grid will be populated with all the contents of the crate where the crated order line has a ship date (completion date) less than or equal to the date specified for Completion Date Till.

If the crate is selected but the lines that should be populated do not appear in the grid, select a later date for Completion Date Till as certain lines may have been crated long before their specified completion dates and falls outside of the Completion Date Till horizon.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).

hmtoggle_plus1Completion Date Till

This field is applied to limit the customer order lines of the selected order and crate number that will be displayed in the Crated Lines Available To Return grid.

The date is defaulted to the current date + the equivalent of 1 months working days thereby including all order lines that have ship dates up to approximately 1 month from the current date.

If some lines that were expected to be populated do not appear in the grid, select a later date in this field, as certain lines may have been crated long before their specified completion dates and fall outside the "Completion Date Till" horizon.

hmtoggle_plus1Customer

This field is applied to specify the name of the Customer to which the crate and associated customer order belongs.  It is an optional field, as the user can enter the function by directly specifying the relevant customer order number.

If the customer name is selected, only customer orders for the  selected customer will be populated for selection in this field.

The list displays the names and organisation codes of customers from the External Organisation table where the organisation is an active debtor that has an associated debtor control account code.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).

RELATED TOPIC: Partial Shipping to Organisation Allowed

hmtoggle_plus1Customer Order

This field is applied to specify the customer order number associated with the crate and customer (mandatory). It can be specified without first specifying the customer name.

If a customer name has been selected, only customer orders for the selected customer will be populated for selection in this field. If no customer is specified, the customer name will automatically default

once the order number has been selected.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).

RELATED TOPIC: Partial Shipping to Organisation Allowed

hmtoggle_plus1Division

This field is applied to specify the sales division associated with the Customer, Customer Order Number and Crate (mandatory).

It must be specified prior to selecting the customer order, since only customer orders of the selected division can be selected.

The list is populated with division codes and division descriptions from the Division table.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).
