This function is used to create and maintain divisions within your organisation and is used to define responsibilities, accounting rules, business rules and relationships for such divisions.


In larger companies, divisions normally have their own general ledger, balance sheet and income statement and as such, function as a financial entity on that level within the company for their own budgets, sales, inventory etc.  It is also referred to as "business units".



The user must have a security profile linked to the function Division with an access allowed of Inquire. If the user does not possess inquiry rights, the division code and division tab will be disabled.


On this tab the following fields can be viewed:



It is a narrative description of the selected division code.


It is populated with the description of the selected division from the Division table for the division code selected (mandatory).


It is an alphanumeric field where the length must be between 3 and 50 characters in length.

It is populated with the division code and description from the Division table.


The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).


It is an alphanumeric field used to identify a division within your company.  It must be between 1 and 4 characters in length.
