On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

hmtoggle_plus1Document Linking Tab

This tab is applied to link a document to 1 or more parts.

The rules for the document on tab#1 (Link to parts/link to multiple parts) will determine if this linking is allowed or not. The linking of, for example an assembly drawing to the configuration hardware item number is thus performed via this tab and enables visibility of linked documents when the hardware structure is viewed via the function Product structure navigation. The Part master function will also auto-display any linked documents.

The linking of a more general document, such as a specification for surface treatment or a material specification, can naturally be linked and associated with many hardware item numbers.

Documents that can not associate with configuration item numbers, such as HR policies, magazines, and general procedures should have the setting "Allow link to parts" switched off.

The tab "Revision cross reference" is applied to map an applicable revision of every Document sheet to the applicable revision of a linked part number.

e.g. Document ABC123 sheet 1 rev 02 -a Part BIC001 rev 00

      Document ABC123 sheet 2 rev 05 a Part BIC001 rev00

Do note that this is optional, since both the part revisions table and the sheet revisions all have effective dates. The system thus natively understands which sheet revision relates to which part revision simply based the effective dates for all related revisions.

This option contains a setting to indicate whether, when a new revision is distributed, it is expected from users/organisations that are in possession of earlier revisions to return those revisions, thus only being in possession of the currently active revision.
