Movement Reason Codes

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Movement Reason Codes with an access allowed of Inquire.

 

The Movement Reason Codes function is used to specify and maintain valid reason codes to be quoted on the movement functions as the reason for the movement being executed.

 

The reason codes are linked to the movements on which they can be applied.  A specific reason code can be allowed on one or more of the movement types, for example, a reason code such as "Goods do not conform to specification", may be allowed for all scrap transactions as well as customer/supplier returns and quarantine transactions, but not for stock adjustments.

 

On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Movement Reason Codes with an access allowed of Add.

 

The "Add" button is only enabled when the user enters a new reason code i.e. the code does not yet exist in the database.

 

When the "Add" button is clicked, the reason code, description, stores scrap, production scrap, quarantine, order requirements scrap, stock adjustments, customer returns, supplier returns, and unplanned receipts are inserted in the Movement Reason Codes table.

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN ADDING:

 

1.The reason code cannot be equal to spaces.
2.The reason code cannot be less than 3 characters.
3.The reason code description cannot be less than 3 characters.

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Movement Reason Codes with an access allowed of Change.

 

The "Change" button is only enabled when the user selects an existing reason code.

 

When the "Change" button is clicked, the fields, description, stores scrap, production scrap, quarantine, order requirements scrap, customer returns, supplier returns, stock adjustments, and unplanned receipts, on the Movement Reason Codes table, are updated.

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN CHANGING:

 

1.The reason code cannot be equal to spaces.
2.The reason code cannot be less than 3 characters.
3.The reason code description cannot be less than 3 characters.

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Movement Reason Codes with an access allowed of Delete.

 

The "Delete" button is only enabled when the user selects an existing reason code.  When the "Delete" button is clicked, the movement reason code is deleted from the Movement Reason Code table.

 

This operation will not be performed where there are still movements using this reason code.

It is a short narrative description of the reason code, for example, Goods do not conform to specification.

 

When doing an inquiry on an existing reason code, this field displays the reason code description from the Movement Reason Codes table.

 

It is an alphanumeric field where the length must be between 3 and 255 characters (mandatory).

The fields, in the "Movements Frame" are, used to indicate whether a specific reason code is applicable to a specific movement type or not.

When you perform a specific movement, the movement will only allow the selection of reason codes that are allowable for the movement

being performed, for example, if you perform stores to scrap, only reason codes allowed for stores to scrap will be displayed.

 

When doing an inquiry on an existing reason code, these fields will default to checked or unchecked depending on the field value on theMovement Reason Codes table.

The reason code indicates why the movement was performed, for example, why the Supplier returned goods, or why goods were scrapped.

 

It is populated with the reason code and reason code description from the Movement Reason Codes table.

 

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).

 

It is an alphanumeric field where the length must be between 3 and 10 characters.
