On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

 

hmtoggle_plus1Alternate Suppliers

This list displays all alternate sources of supply for the selected part number.  The list is populated from all existing Supplier catalogues containing active records for the selected part (table Ext Org Parts).

The list displays:

The Supplier name

The Supplier part number

The Supplier unit of measure

Whether the Supplier is also the OEM (Original equipment manufacturer)

The Supplier lead-time for the part expressed in workdays

The Supplier ranking

The preference percentage allocated to the Supplier

hmtoggle_plus1Consignment Stock

When checked (yes "1"), it indicates that the stock is consignment stock.

 

When unchecked (No "0"), it indicates that the stock is not consignment stock.

 

When doing an inquiry on a part, this field will default to checked or unchecked depending on whether consignment stock has a value of "Y" or "N" on the Part Master table.

 

Consignment stock is regarded as stock made available by a supplier for your usage. You typically only pay for the quantity used and the control of this stock resides with the supplier.

hmtoggle_plus1Controlling Store

From the Store table where:

 

         The division code is equal to the controlling division selected on the Engineering tab, and

         The store is not an "in transit" store.

 

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length".

 

When the controlling division is changed on the Engineering tab, a new controlling store must be selected and the combo will populate with all stores of the newly selected controlling division.                

 

It identifies the prime store for a part.

When checked (yes "y"), it indicates that the part is a floor stock part.  Only items that have a safety policy not equal to "N/A", and that have a safety stock quantity greater than zero, can be indicated as floor stock.

 

When unchecked (No "N"), it indicates that the part is not a floor stock part.

 

When doing an inquiry on a part, this field will either default to checked or unchecked depending on whether floor stock has a value of "Y" or "N" on the Part Master table.

 

When Floor Stock is checked, the Part Safety Stock Policy can not be "Not Applicable".

Part Floor Stock can be checked for any source other than the sources, Customer Furnished and Phantom.

 

Floor stock parts are parts that have an "ABC Classification" of "Low Usage Value" and are used frequently on the production floor to, for example, assemble products.  Typical examples of floor stock is: nuts and bolts and waste cleaning materials.

 

The purpose of floor stock is to minimize production planning activities and store transactions (movements).  For floor stock parts "Immediate" must be selected under Safety Stock on the Planning 1 tab.

It is a read only field that displays the supplier on the last purchase order placed (released order) for the Part.

hmtoggle_plus1Preferred Supplier

This combo box is populated with the supplier name and organisation code from the External Organization table where trading status suppliers is Active "A" and a valid supplier account exists.

 

MRP will automatically apply the preferred supplier as the supplier on planned purchase orders unless order splitting has been predefined for buying records on the function External Organization Parts, in which case MRP will split the planned order quantity between the listed suppliers in accordance with the preference (weighting) percentages.

 

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length".  This field identifies the most likely supplier of a part.

hmtoggle_plus1Yield Percentage

Yield is the ratio of usable output from a replenishment order.  It therefore defines the percentage of usable output from a replenishment order.  It therefore defines the percentage of usable output from a process to it's input.  If the total yield from an order can be applied as usable stock, the yield percentage must be set to 100% (default when adding a new part).

 

Yield is primarily applied where the quantity yielded by an order cannot be fully applied as usable stock for down stream transactions.   This normally occurs where spillage, handling or packaging, or other factors relating to the process results in a portion of the quantity not being usable.

 

Examples can include manufacturing of oils or chemicals where spillage during handling results in a loss of output.

 

Other examples can include commodities that are found to fail in its intended function when final inspection is performed (such as PC boards, diodes, resistors, light bulbs, etc) or where the inspection process results in destructive testing of a portion of the order quantity.

 

In order to compensate for the loss in usable output, the yield percentage needs to be set  to the percentage of the output that is normally usable, for example, 90 percent.  MRP will therefore inflate planned order quantities and its associated order requirements to compensate for the expected loss in usable output.

 

Where MRP would typically suggest an order for a quantity of 1,000 for a part with a yield of 100%, it would suggest a quantity of 1,111 for a part with a yield of 90%.  The expected output would therefore be 1,111 x 90% = 1,000.

 

For existing order lines MRP will multiply the open quantity with the yield percentage to calculate the expected yield from the order when performing the supply/demand analysis and calculating project available quantities.

 

NOTE: As opposed to a scrap percentage that is defined in a specific parent/component relationship in the product structure therefore permitting the scrap cost to be included in the product cost, yield applies to a part and serves as a planning aid.  It does not result in the inflation of product cost via the Cost Generation function.

 

The yield percentage can have a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 100.
