On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

hmtoggle_plus1Acceptance Criteria

This field is populated with the inspection code and description from the Inspection Criteria table.

The acceptance criteria are instructions with regard to quality verification of items, and actions to be taken before receiving these items into stock.

The field is optional and serves as a default for the manner in which a part is normally inspected.

The actual acceptance criteria specified on, for example, a purchase order, will be applied at the time of receipt.

hmtoggle_plus1Add

The user must have a security profile linked to the function.

Change with an access allowed of Add and at least inquiry rights on the Part Master function.

If the ECP Control Part Revisions field in System Configuration has a value of:

1.          "No", ECP control is not applied.

2.          "XDM", ECP control is applied irrespective of the development cycle of the selected part.

3.          "ADM", ECP control is applied except where the development cycle of the selected part is "XDM".

4.          "EDM", ECP control is applied except where the development cycle of the selected part is "XDM" or "EDM".

5.          "PPM", ECP control is applied if the development cycle of the selected part is "PPM", "PM", "PP" or "OBS".

6.          "PM", ECP control is applied if the development cycle of the selected part is "PM", "PP" or "OBS".

The approved ECP number must either be entered or is not needed.  A record will be inserted into the Part Revision table.

hmtoggle_plus1Additional Attributes Of Preceding Part

hmtoggle_plus1Allow By Products To Be Linked

The purpose of this setting is to enable the user to indicate that by products are used/allowed in a product structure for the selected part number (parent part number).

To identify by products in the product structure the user has to specify a negative quantity per. This will cause the cost of the By Product to be deducted from the product's cost when a Cost Generation Run is performed.

hmtoggle_plus1Allow Negative Stock

The purpose of this setting is to indicate if negative stock is allowed due to automatic back-flushing of WIP materials.

This is governed by the setting named Allow Negative Stock on the Product Master function. Take note that negative stock will only be allowed on the selected part number if the setting on the product master function (selected part number's product code), allows negative stock.

Any  sales order line being crated/shipped and any internal order line being completed to stores will automatically issue (back-flush) the required set of material or components not yet issued in ratio to the order line quantity completed.

Automatic back-flushing only applies to non-serialized and non-lot controlled requirement parts.  NOTE: Negative stock is not permitted for any part that is a limited shelf-life item.

hmtoggle_plus1Attributes

The part may have that are not visible on the Part master function itself.

These attributes may consist of the following:

Part Operations, Part Standard Item, External Objects, Characteristics, Part Price Scenario, Part Sales Price Scenario, Product Structure, Part UOM Conversion, MSI Missions, Failure Per MSI Mission, End Items Per Scenario, Maintenance Procedures, MSI Missions Per Scenario, Sales catalogue, Supplier catalogue , Product structure QA pieces, Product structure Extra pieces

Documents, Project part requirements, Has-by-products Is-a-by-product and others

The function thus checks in all other related tables whether the part can be found (e.g. product structure, part operations) and lists the attribute if found. This also provides a quick jump to the function where the attribute was defined.

When new parts are added or when existing parts are viewed, its attributes can be compared with the attributes of a selected preceding part or reference part. This can serve as a check list to ensure that the selected part does indeed have all the other attributes that it should have. Many of the attributes can be copied from a reference part to the selected part (if the user has the required add-rights for the related function).

hmtoggle_plus1Available Attributes To Copy From Preceding Part

If The Selected Part Has A Specified Preceding Part On Which Its Design Was Based, This List Serves The Purpose To Display The Attributes Of The Preceding Part Number That Has Not Yet Been Specified For The Selected Part Number And That Can Be Copied To The Selected Part (if Required And If The User Has Add-rights On The Related Function).

It thus serves as a check list to remind the user that, since the 2 parts are assumed to have a large overlap of similarities, certain attributes have not yet been created for the selected part.

The attributes that can be copied will appear in this list, whilst additional attributes that cannot directly be copied from this screen, will be listed in the list box for "Additional attributes of preceding part".

The following attributes are examples of attributes that may be displayed:

Part Standard Item,

Part UOM Conversion,

Part Price Scenario,

Part Sales Price Scenario,

Product Structure,

Characteristics,

External Objects,

Part Operations,

MSI Missions,

Failure Per MSI Mission,

Maintenance Procedures,

End Items Per Scenario,

MSI Missions Per Scenario.

Part pack quantity

The user can either click the arrow button to copy the data or can execute the option to 1st "go to" the function to inquire prior to copying the data.

Most of the listed functions will not automatically copy the data, but will rather take the user to the appropriate function where the data can be copied in a "same-as-except" fashion, since certain differences can be expected to exist between the selected and preceding part.

The system will only allow the user to copy or view the data if the signed-on user also has the required security access to the applicable update screen that has been selected in the list.

Once the data has been copied via another function, click the REFRESH button on this screen. The copied attribute will then no longer appear in this list of available attributes, but will instead appear in the list of "Linked attributes of selected part".

hmtoggle_plus1Auto Release Internal Orders

The field is applied to manufactured  parts to specify whether release MRP suggested production orders.

If applied, MRP will create planned production orders for the total MRP horizon but will release all the orders of which the order line start date falls within the release horizon as specified on the MRP run for the Auto release days (InternaOrders) option.

The default is unchecked and disabled.  The field is only enabled under the following conditions:

1.          The selected part number must have a source of Manufactured "M".

2.          The selected part number must be MRP planned.

3.          The selected part number must be a fixed account part.

hmtoggle_plus1Dangerous Goods Regulation Item

This frame contains settings that can identify an item that has a hazard classification and is subject to international regulations regarding the marking, packing, identification, handling and transportation of hazardous goods.

The functionality is based on the guidelines provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to which the majority of International airlines subscribe.

To identify an item as BEING SUBJECT TO Dangerous goods regulations, check the "Dangerous goods regulation item" checkbox.

This will enable the field "Classification option".

The options are:

"Not applicable" (for items that are not dangerous goods where the check box was not checked to ID the item as having a hazard classification.

"Use part master settings"  (this option is selected to specify the hazard classification and United nations ID number for the selected part number, which will enable the "Hazard classification" and "UN ID number" fields).

"Use commodity code settings"  (this option is selected to specify that the hazard classification and United nations ID number for the selected part number must be sourced from its commodity code, which will disable the "Hazard classification" and "UN ID number" fields). The hazard classification is thus specified at commodity level rather than part master level.

If the selected option is Use part master settings, the following fields will enable as follows:

Hazard classification: A list of valid hazard division codes, as defined via the Dangerous goods regulation function will be displayed for selection. Once selected, the UN ID number can be selected.

If the option is Use commodity code settings, the Hazard classification will be displayed from the parts commodity code.

hmtoggle_plus1Division

This field is enabled if you have a security profile linked to the profile function Part Locations.

It is populated with the division code and description from a join between the Store and Division tables.

If you do not select a division, stock for all divisions will be displayed in the "Stock" list box.  If the user selects a division, all stock for the selected part and division will be displayed.

hmtoggle_plus1Display Serial/Lot Number

This option is only available for serialised and lot controlled parts.  Since a selected part can potentially have hundreds, or even thousands of serial numbers in stock, the standard mode is to display a summarised stock quantity per location and not the detail of the actual serial- or lot numbers.

To view the actual serial- or lot numbers, this option can be checked.

The option to specify a "serial number like" can be used in conjunction with this option.

hmtoggle_plus1Effective Date

This date represents the date from when the sales price is to be effective. The purpose of this date also is to define more than one sales price.

When inserting a new sales price, the selected effective date has to be greater than or equal to today's date. Take note, that not more than one record can have the same effective date.

hmtoggle_plus1Exclude If Shelf Life Expired 8

Exclude stock where the shelf life has already expired.

hmtoggle_plus1Forecast Planning Bill

The purpose of this setting is to indicate if the selected part number will be used for forecasting. Take note of the following:

1.          The source of the selected part number has to be equal   to Manufactured.

2.          The order quantity minimum and order quantity maximum   has to be equal to "1".

3.          The part number can't be a JIT Item.

4.          Auto releasing of internal orders is not allowed.

This setting is not to be confused with the Sales Forecast functionality.  This setting will prevent Requirements to be issued to Works Orders and Works Orders for it can not be released.

hmtoggle_plus1Go

Once a jump to option has been selected, this button is clicked to go to the associated function.

hmtoggle_plus1Go to Function

The "go to" button will enable once the user selects an attribute in any of the 3 list boxes on the screen.

If an attribute is selected in the list of "Linked attributes of selected part", the appropriate function will be opened and the data for the selected part will be displayed.

If an attribute is selected in the list of "Available attributes to copy from preceding part" or "Additional attributes of preceding part", the appropriate function will be opened and the data for the preceding part will be displayed.

Take note that not all attributes selected will enable the "Go To" button. The reason being that on certain functions, such as Assets, Parts per pallet type and others the Part number is not the primary key on the function and the inquiry cannot be made without knowledge of, for example, the asset number or pallet type.

hmtoggle_plus1Grid

The grid displays the financial years, scenario codes with the sales price from the part price scenario table that exists against the selected part number.

Characteristics and or external objects can be linked per scenario and financial year.

hmtoggle_plus1Gross Profit Margin %

When stock is populating in the grid, the option can be used to view stock that is in transit at the moment of populating.  When checked, stock in transit will be included in the list box.

hmtoggle_plus1Jit Item

This field is supplied to specify whether a manufactured part is regarded as being a JIT item.

Identifying a part as a JIT item will have the following impact once the functionality is incorporated in the Production to Stores movement:

1.          The part planner will not be required to firm and release planned MRP production orders.

2.          The Production to Stores movement function will merely require a report back of the quantity completed of a JIT part.

3.          A stored procedure will automatically release orders for the reported quantity, back flush the component issues and perform the stock update, movement history and all the associated         Journal entries.

The default on form load is unchecked and disabled.  The field is only enabled under the following conditions:

1.                The selected part number must have a source of Manufactured "M".

2.                The selected part number must be MRP planned.

3.                The selected part number must be a fixed account part.

4.                The option for Auto Release Internal Orders must be unchecked.

5.                A manufactured part can only be identified as a JIT item if the specified product code allows the automatic backflushing (issuing) of componentrequirements.

RELATED TOPIC: Last Purchase Price on ABC Analysis

hmtoggle_plus1Last Purchase Price Date

This is a read only field that displays the date on which the most current purchase order for a part was created.

hmtoggle_plus1Markup %

The markup % will be calculated accordingly, once a Sales Price or Gross Profit Margin % are selected.

The Markup % is calculated as follows:

((Sales Price - Cost) , Cost) *100.

A negative Markup % will be displayed if a Sales Price less than the Cost is selected. If a negative Markup % is displayed and the Add or Change button is applied, the user shall have the option to accept or not.

If accepted, a message is sent to the Sales Manager (select part number's product code) to inform him or her of such value.

hmtoggle_plus1Mrp Plan Stores Issue Requisitions

The purpose of this setting is to indicate that the selected part number's stores issue requisitions has to be taken into consideration during the MRP run.

Take note that this setting will only apply to MRP planned part masters.

hmtoggle_plus1Node

This field is applied to limit the stock records to inventory that has been replenished and sponsored by a specific project node.

Where a production- or purchase order line is associated with and financed by a specific node in the WBS (work breakdown structure) of a project, this identification is retained at the time of receipt and the node will reflect in the stock records as well.

hmtoggle_plus1Notes

This text box can be used to make notes regarding the revision of a drawing, document, specification, instruction etc. A maximum length of 255 characters.

hmtoggle_plus1Only Show Expired Shelf Life 8

View only stock where the shelf life has expired.

hmtoggle_plus1Over Receipt Percentage (%)

When specified on a part, it allows the user to set a percentage, which will be applied upon receipt of a purchased part from either a Supplier to Store or Inspection to Store to receive more of the order line part.

This will therefore enable the Storeman to deviate from the Order Quantity by the percentage set on the part.

The purpose thereof is to control the variations in the supply of a part. After the supplier has furnished his delivery the Storeman will be allowed to accept the quantity received in accordance with the tolerance set and if checked the order will be set to close, if within the Over Receipt Percentage specified on the Part.

hmtoggle_plus1Override Policy To Prevent Excess

This option is applied to ensure that no excess inventory is manufactured or purchased due tot he order policy of an item.  If the option is not checked, the order policy of the part will be applied as is.

If the option is checked, MRP will apply the specified part order policy, but will override the minimum- and increment rules of the policy to prevent potential excess stock.

Therefore, if MRP calculates net demand of say 52 and the order quantity minimum is 60, the order policy will be ignored and only 52 will be suggested as the replenishment quantity of the planned order.

Despite this option, some scenarios may however not totally prevent excess stock, since existing stock may not always commingle with new projects and stock may have to be replenished for demand from other projects.

hmtoggle_plus1Part Price Scenarios

The Part Price Scenario function is used to do mass calculations where this tab is used to do inserts or updates as per individual part number.

INQUIRY RIGHTS

To do inquiries, the logged in employee has to have at least inquiry rights on a profile linked to the Part Master function AND

Has to have inquiry rights on a profile linked to the Part Price Scenario function if the logged in employee is not equal to the buyer on the selected part number (inherited rights).

This read only field displays the part number for the previous version/design of the selected part.

hmtoggle_plus1Position Annotation

This frame consists of three options to be selected that include a "No Annotation Allowed" option, an "Annotation Allowed Position Quantities Mandatory" option and an "Annotation Allowed Position Quantities Optional" option.

These options are used in conjunction with the Product Structure function (Positioning tab) where the selected part number exists as a parent part number (Product Structure Table).

No position annotation will be allowed if the "No Annotation Allowed" option is selected.  Position annotation will be allowed if the "Annotation Allowed Position Quantities Mandatory" option is selected. With this option a quantity has to be specified (see positioning tab for more detail).

Position annotation will also be allowed if the "Annotation Allowed Position Quantities Optional" option is selected. With this option the position quantity is optional (see positioning tab for more detail).

hmtoggle_plus1Project Sn

If a specific project has been selected to limit the stock records to inventory that has been replenished for a selected Project only, this option to select a specific project serial number is enabled. This will only be valid if the project selected enforces engineering changes in the Bill of material based on end-item serial number affectivity rather than engineering change date. If a specific serial number is selected, only inventory suitable for the selected serial number will be displayed. The stock record must thus be valid for a serial number range where the selected serial number falls within the range.

hmtoggle_plus1Ratio Checker %

Any percentage specified that is greater than zero, will result in a relaxation of the ratio checker (being the relation between the order line % complete versus the order line requirements % issued).

Over receipts (quantity complete greater than quantity ordered) are therefore possible on production orders within the constraints of this setting.

A setting of 10% will thus allow a yield of 10% more than the quantity ordered.

This relaxation of the ratio check is also applied on the following movements:

Store to Order Requirements

Order Requirements to Stores

Order Requirements to Scrap

Scrap to Order Requirements

Production to Stores

See also the system configuration setting which governs the maximum value allowed. RATIO CHECKER PRODUCTION SENSITIVITY %

hmtoggle_plus1Reference Part

A reference part is selected to compare the attributes of such a part to those of the selected part to ensure that the selected part has all critical attributes defined.

This is especially handy when new part is added. A reference part that is likely to have similar attributes, can be selected to serve as a "check-list" to compare attributes. The attributes of the reference part not yet linked to the selected part, can then serve as a base-line to "same-as-except" copy these attributes for the selected part.

hmtoggle_plus1Refresh

This button refreshes the data in all the list views on the screen. Since users can go to an appropriate update function to copy data for the selected part, this function will not have knowledge of such a failed or successful transaction.

Clicking the button will however execute the search and display the latest linked (and where applicable) the latest available attributes.

hmtoggle_plus1Revisions

hmtoggle_plus1Revision Number

The revision number identifies the version of a part.  It van have a maximum length of 5 characters. When a revision number is entered, characteristic and external object linking to the Part Revision table is possible.

hmtoggle_plus1Sales Price

The purpose of this maintainable text box, is to specify a new sales price or to maintain an existing sales price.

When selecting a sales price, the Markup % and the Gross Profit Margin % will be calculated accordingly based on the Landed Cost value.

Take note, that only sales price values greater than zero can be selected.

hmtoggle_plus1Sales Price Calculation

The purpose of this frame is to display the markup % and Gross Profit Margin % based on the Landed Cost Source when selecting a Sales Price to be inserted or maintained.

hmtoggle_plus1Show Cost Break Down

View the cost break-down of the stock average unit cost.  Material, labour and overhead elements that make up the average unit cost can be viewed separately.

hmtoggle_plus1Short Close Tolerance

When specified on a part, it allows a user to set a variance which will be applied upon receipt of a part into a store via the Supplier to Store or Inspection to Store, as well as from Production to Store movements.

The purpose thereof is to control the variations in the supply of a part. After the supplier has furnished his delivery the Storeman will be allowed to accept the quantity received in accordance with the tolerance set and if checked the order will be set to close, if within the tolerance specified on the Part.

hmtoggle_plus1Serial/Lot Number Like

This field is only enabled if you have a security profile linked to the profile function Part Locations.  It is only enabled when the key field part is a serialized part or is lot controlled.

It performs a wild card selection of serial numbers and displays all the serialized/lot controlled parts found with such a wildcard.

If the key field part is not a serialized part, this field is disabled.  It is an alphanumeric field with a maximum length of 30 characters (optional).

hmtoggle_plus1Security Classification

The security classification is used to indicate the security classification of a document.

Security Classification can be Top Secret, Confidential, Secret, Restricted or None.  Restricted is the default.

hmtoggle_plus1Store

This field is applied to limit the stock records to those that reside in a specific Store only.

To specify a store, a division 1st needs to be selected. Only stores for the selected division will then be listed for selection.

hmtoggle_plus1Stock

It Displays the division, store, serial/lot number, location, status, quantity on hand, quantity allocated, quantity in quarantine, average cost, stock of external organization, and revision from a join between the Location, Division, Store and External Organization tables according to the selection criteria entered.

When a line is selected in this grid, characteristic and external object linking to the Location table is possible.

hmtoggle_plus1Specific Project

This field is applied to limit the stock records to inventory that has been replenished for a selected Project only.

If a customer contract is associated with a Project, MRP will cascade the project identification to all levels in the Supply chain.

Where a production- or purchase order thus relates to a specific project, this identification is retained at the time of receipt and the project will reflect in the stock records as well.

hmtoggle_plus1Special Regulations

To identify an item as a candidate for local or international defense control regulations, check the "CDI Candidate" checkbox.

The control is often dependant on the end-user to which a CDI is shipped, which in turn may require permits or licenses as required by ITAR or ITAC or local regulations.

hmtoggle_plus1View Stock Status

hmtoggle_plus1Test Pieces Required Frame 4

These fields are applied to specify whether additional test pieces are required over and above the MRP needed quantity as planned to satisfy net demand.

These additional pieces do not add to the projected available quantity, since it is assumed that the pieces are used or destroyed during testing of the order batch.

If the quantity is always fixed (e.g. 2 pieces irrespective of the order size), choose the option "Quantity fixed" and specify the applicable quantity.

If the number of pieces must vary as per order size, choose the option "Qty per batch size of' and specify both the fixed quantity and the batch size. This will increase the provision for test pieces as the order batch size increases.

MRP will thus increase the planned order quantities to make provision for test pieces.
