The records selected will be updated depending on the values selected in the fields above the grid. The function will update the Remaining Working Life as well as the Shelf Life expiry date depending on the modes selected in the two check boxes above. Working and shelf life can be updated independently by selecting either of the two boxes. A history record will be inserted for each update transaction.

Comments must be entered if the working and or shelf life records of the selected rows in the grid are to be updated. The comments entered in this field will default to the selected rows in the grid upon select of such records. This data will be written to the appropriate history records of the updated records.

The commodity code is populated from part master records of parts which exists in the location table for the selected store and which has shelf life and or working life consumption records.  When selecting a commodity code, only parts which belong to the selected commodity will be populated. Depending how the commodity codes was allocated to the parts, it should pan out that parts belonging to the same commodity would be affected to the same extent by an disruption of the conditions in the store. If this is the case, it should be possible to update the working life and/or the shelf life of all the stock that belongs to the same commodity simultaneously.

The purpose of the grid is to enable the user to select records of which the working life and/or shelf life has to be updated.  The records selected will be updated depending on the values selected in the fields above the grid. The controls in the frame Incident details consists of a Start Date, End Date Start Time and End Time. These values will indicate the duration of the incident and is further described by the comments and the number of hours and or days with which the working and or the shelf life of the parts is to be reduced. These records will be written to the  Working Life Consumption History and the Shelf Life Expiry History tables.

The part number is populated with part number from the location, working life consumption and shelf life expiry tables. When selecting a part number only records of the selected item will be populated in the grid.

The product code is populated from part master records of parts which exists in the location table for the selected store and which has shelf life and or working life consumption records.  When selecting a product code, only parts which belong to the selected product code will be populated. Depending on the allocation of commodity and product code it will further impact on the selected stock and might allow the user to update the working life and/or the shelf life of all the stock that belongs to the same product and commodity code simultaneously.

Reduce Shelf Life With Days is the number of days that has to be deducted from the Shelf Life Expiry Date of the selected records in the grid. The number of days entered in this field will be defaulted upon select to the appropriate column in the grid. This is done to eliminate the need to insert the same data repeatedly for each row selected. The number of Days is not necessary equal to the time difference in the date and time columns in the frame Incident details above.

Reduce Working Life With Hours is the number of hours that has to be deducted from the remaining working life of the selected records in the grid. The number of hours entered in this field will be defaulted upon select to the appropriate column in the grid. This is done to eliminate the need to insert the same data repeatedly for each row selected. The number of hours is not necessary equal to the time difference in the date and time columns in the frame Incident details above.

The show button will populate the rows in the grid according to the selected values in the combo boxes labeled Store, Commodity Code, Product Code, and Part Number. These filters can be selected independently except for the filter for store which is mandatory.

This is the store associated with the inventory that the user intends to update. The store is populated with stores from the store table.

If a test report is needed to update the working and/or shelf life of products as a result of an incident, entering the test report number in this field will default the report number to the selected rows in the grid.

The checkbox to update Shelf Life must be selected if it is the intention of the user to update the shelf life of the selected records in the grid. Selecting this checkbox will enable the column labeled Shelf Life Reduce Days in the grid. If the text box labeled Reduce shelf Life With is completed the Shelf Life Reduce Days in the grid will be populated with this value when the row is selected.

The checkbox to update working life must be selected if it is the intention of the user to update the working life of the selected records in the grid. Selecting this checkbox will enable the column labeled Working Life Reduce hours in the grid. If the text box labeled reduce working life with is completed the Working Life Reduce hours in the grid will be populated with the value when the row is selected.

The second tab is used to do bulk updates of either the working life or the shelf life of a part in the event of some condition arising where all the parts in the store is affected in the same way. This can be the result of a power outage or the facility experiencing a breakdown etc. The function allows the user to make an update of all inventory associated with a store or selectively for certain commodities or per specific part. Users can select toe either update the working life or the shelf life or both.

A comment regarding the instance is enforced and the updates will reflect this comment in the history tables for shelf life expiry and/or working life consumption.
