BOM Substitutes

On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

The user must have a security profile linked to the function Part Substitutes with an access allowed of Change.

 

When the "Apply" button is clicked the Requirements table is updated as follows:

 

1.  The "Required Quantity" of the selected requirement is down adjusted with the Substitute Quantity specified.

     And the "Planned Scrap" is re calculated as follows (New Req Qty * Planned Scrap)/Old Req Qty

     And the "Proportionate Order Yield Qty" is adjusted as follows Order Line Quantity Ordered - Proportionate Order Yield Qty of the substitute part

 

2.  If the "Required Quantity" of the requirement selected in the "Requirements for Part Number" list box is changed to zero, the requirement is deleted.

 

3.  A requirement with the same key as the updated requirement is inserted with the part number of the substitute part number and the "Required Quantity" equal to the Substitute Quantity specified

 And the "Planned Scrap" equal to the quantity specified in the Include Scrapped Qty field

 And "Proportionate Order Yield Qty" equal to the quantity specified in the Satisfying Order Qty Of field

 And "Project Serial Number From" equal to the Project Serial Number From of the part being substituted

 And "Project Serial Number To" equal to the Project Serial Number To of the part being substituted

 And "Original Planned Part Number" equal to the part number of the part being substituted.

 

4.A part that is already a substitute can not be substituted

 

5.   If the quantity completed on the order line is greater than zero substitution will not be allowed                

 

BUSINESS RULES WHEN CHANGING REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.        The quantity must be greater than zero.
2.        The substitute quantity can not be greater than the "Not-allocated/Xref quantity".
3.        Requirements can only be substituted with a selected part number with the same unit of measure.

When a specific substitute part is selected in the list box, this field displays the portion of stock that can be used, without resulting in shortages, for other orders requiring the same part within the lead time horizon of the part.  If no substitute part is selected, this field displays the value 0.

 

The Available to Promise value is calculated as follows:

 

It selects the Stock on Hand - the sum of the (required quantity - (issued quantity +allocated quantity)), and the minimum completion date from the Requirements and the Order Line tables where:

 

The required date on the Requirements table is less than or equal to the projectedlead time horizon date,

The required quantity - (issued quantity + allocated quantity) on the Requirements table is greater than zero, and

The status on the Order Line table is not Quotation "Q" or Closed "C".

This field displays the first outstanding order (order type, order number, line number, completion date, and open quantity  (Quantity ordered - Quantity complete) for the substitute part selected.

hmtoggle_plus1Include Quarantine Stock

When checked, the Stock on Hand from the Location table will be calculated as follows:

 

(Quantity on Hand - the Allocated Quantity) from the Location table where the Part number is equal to the substitute part number on the Part Standard Item table, the stock status is set to "New" and no organization code is entered.

 

When unchecked, the Quarantine Quantity from the Location table will be subtracted from the above Stock on Hand and is calculated as follows:

 

(Quantity on Hand - (the Allocated Quantity + the Quarantine Quantity) from the Location table where the part number is equal to the substitute part number on the Part Standard Item table,  the stock status is set to "New" and where no organization code is entered.

hmtoggle_plus1Include Scrapped Qty

This field works in conjunction with the substitute quantity and is the planned scrap quantity included in the substitute quantity. This value will be carried over to the planned scrap field on the requirements table of the substitute part.

hmtoggle_plus1Include Stock in Transit

When unchecked, the Stock on Hand for the substitute part numbers will be calculated using only stock in the locations from the Location table linked to geographically fixed stores, i.e., the field In Transit Store on the Store table is equal to No "0").

 

When checked, the Stock on Hand for the substitute part numbers will be calculated using stock in the locations from the Location table linked to geographically fixed stores as well as in transit stores.

hmtoggle_plus1Only Stock Of Requirement Order Division

When this option is selected, only the locations where the division code matches the division code of the requirements order master record are taken into consideration.

 

When checked, only substitute parts for the selected part number will be displayed where the location's division code matches the division code of the requirements order master record.

 

When unchecked, all Substitute parts for the selected part number will be displayed in the "Substitutes for Part Number" list box regardless of the division they belong to.

This field works in conjunction with the substitute quantity and is the proportionate order yield quantity it will satisfy of the order line qty.

When the user has selected a part number and view option, the  button must be clicked, before the list box, "Substitutes for Part Number" is populated.

hmtoggle_plus1Show Only Substitutes With Stock

When checked, only substitute parts will be displayed in the "Substitutes for Part Number" list box, for the selected part number, where the Stock on Hand (The quantity on hand  - (the allocated quantity + the quarantine quantity)) from the Location table is greater than zero where:

 

         The part number is equal to the substitute part number on the Part Standard Item table,

         The stock status is set to "New",

         No organization code is entered, and

         In transit stores are excluded.

 

When unchecked, all substitute parts for the selected part number will be displayed in the "Substitutes for Part Number" list box regardless of the quantity of Stock on Hand.

hmtoggle_plus1Substitute Quantity

When the user selects a part number in the "Requirements for Part Number" list box, this field will display the "Not Allocated/X-Ref" quantity of the selected part number.

 

The user can change the substitute quantity to any value between one and the value of the "Not Allocated/X-Ref quantity" of the part selected.

hmtoggle_plus1Substitutes For Part Number List Box

Select a part number, view options and click the  button to populate the list box.  It will repopulate if the view option(s) are changed and the  button is clicked.  The following is displayed in the list box:

 

1.The Substitute Part Number on the Part Standard Item table, excluding the selected part number.

 

2.The Part Description from the Part Master table where the part number is equal to the substitute part number on the Part Standard Item table.

 

3.When "Include Quarantine Stock" is not checked, "Stock on Hand" is equal to the (Quantity on Hand - (Allocated Quantity + Quarantine Quantity)) from the Location table where:

 

                 The part number is equal to the substitute part number,

                 The stock status is set to "New",

                 No organization code is entered, and

                 Only for the Controlling division of the selected part if "Only Stock of Controlling Division" is checked.

 

4."Stock on Order" is calculated as the (Quantity Ordered - Quantity Complete) from the Order Line table for Purchase orders, or it is calculated as the (Quantity Ordered - (Quantity Rejected + Quantity Complete)) for all Non-Stocked and Repair orders not falling under Purchase and  sales orders.

 

5."Unit of Measure" displays the description from the Unit of Measure table where the unit of measure code is equal to the unit of measure code for the substitute parts.

 

6."Controlling Division" displays the division description for the substitute parts where the substitute parts' division code is equal to the division code on the Division table.

 

7."Standard Item Number" displays the standard item number for the substitute parts from the Part Standard Item table.

 

8."Std Item Approved Name" displays the approved standard item name from the Standard Item Master table where the substitutes' standard item number is equal to the standard item number on the Part Standard Item table.
hmtoggle_plus1Requirements For Part Number List Box

This list box displays all requirements for the part number selected in the Part Number drop down combo governed by the Requirement Horizon and Requirement Status.

 

It is populated with the order number, order type, line number, completion date, deliver to operation, required date, unissued quantity calculated as (required quantity - issued quantity) and  Not Allocated/X-Ref quantity calculated as the (required quantity - (allocated quantity + issued quantity), Required Qty, Proportionate Order Yield Qty, Planned Scrap, Project Serial Number From, Project Serial Number To, and Range Qty calculated as (Project Serial Number To - Project Serial Number From) + 1 from the Requirements table minus the sum of the  outstanding quantity on the Order Cross Reference table.

hmtoggle_plus1Requirement Horizon

This field defaults to today's date, but if the user has entered the screen from a selected requirement or the Order Cross Reference function, the required date of the requirement key is defaulted to this field (if it is greater than today's date).

 

You can change this date to a date earlier or later than today's date.   The date specified will govern the entries   populated in the Requirements list box if the  button is clicked.

hmtoggle_plus1Requirement Status

This field defaults to "Firmed" and "Released" on form load, i.e., the Requirements list boxes are only populated with order lines with a status of firmed or released.

 

The list boxes are repopulated when the user changes the statuses in this frame and click the  button.
