This frame is applied to define the validity of a selected component in a Project specific bill of material.
Other than in a standard BOM, where effectivity is based on status codes and effective dates, a project BOM defines the effectivity of a component for a valid range.
This range is populated from the predefined project serial number range via the function Project serial number range.
When a project BOM is initially created, all components are valid for the complete range.
The valid range can then be altered as and when changes are required.
Normally all serial numbers will be populated in the SN from list and SN to list.
HOWEVER, if the serial number range only allows certain serial numbers as build-block implementation blocks, the list will exclude some serial numbers.
The purpose of the implementation points is to apply the concept of configuration build blocks in the serial number range. Only internal serial numbers identified as a build block implementation point, can serve as a "Project serial number from" on the Product structure. Thus, if a project has a range of 1 - 50, and only numbers 1, 11, 21, 31 and 41 were identified as implementation points, the function will react as follows: ONLY numbers 1, 11, 21, 31 and 41 can be selected as Project serial number from, and ONLY numbers 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 can be selected as Project serial number to. It thus provides the ability to control changes in build blocks of 10 in the above example.
