Maintained Parent

This drop down combo is visible when the "Method" buttons are set to:

(Part Only) and (Explode), where the Maintained

Parent is the part number of the parent to which the component in the

Available Parts list box is to be linked; or

(Explode) and (Explode), where the Maintained

Parent is the part number of the parent to which components selected

from Available Components, when "Same-As Adding is done, can be

linked.

Take note that when a Project specific Bill of material is to be added,

the Maintained parent and reference parent will be forced to be the

same, since a Project specific BOM must be created by copying the

standard BOM as the baseline for the Project BOM.

You thus have to select the standard BOM part number as the Reference

parent and it will be defaulted as the maintained parent part.

After the BOM has been copied, the project BOM can be maintained

to differ from the standard BOM.

It is populated with all Part Numbers, Descriptions, Source, Fixed

Account and Serial/Lot Control from the Part Master

table.

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed

by the value of "populate length" (mandatory).
