Type Of Link (frame)

Training Manuals Alphabetical Function List Back Print this Topic Previous topicOne level upNext topic

The type of link has the following purpose:

Type of link "C" (consumed) which means that the component being linked is required and to be applied/consumed in the manufacturing process of the parent part. When orders are created, a requirement will be created for a component with this type of link for the purpose of planning, stock picking and costing.

Type of link "U" (utilized only) which means that the component is not consumed or built into the parent, but is only utilized in the process (such as tools, jigs, documents and others). NO requirements will be created for this type of link when orders are launched and the component will be ignored in product costing.

Type of link "E" (extra pieces) which means that, similar to type of link "C",  the component being linked is required and to be applied/consumed in the manufacturing process of the parent part, BUT that in addition to the standard qty per, extra material is required to compensate for spilling or other losses such as chuck allowance. The formula for calculating the extra pieces is specified on the tab "QA and extra pieces".

Type of link "Q" (QA pieces) which means that the component being linked is not part of the parent part, but represents a QA piece to be manufactured on the same order to demonstrate that the process is under control (heat treatment, milling and others). The function will force the component to be a phantom part and the qty per must be 0.00. The formula for calculating the QA pieces is specified on the tab "QA and extra pieces".

Type of link "S" (standard replacement) which means that similar to type of link "C", the component being linked is required and to be applied/consumed in the manufacturing process of the parent part. When orders are created, a requirement will be created for a component with this type of link for the purpose of planning, stock picking and costing. In addition, this type of link flags a component a being a standard replacement when repairs are undertaken for the parent part and this type of link thus also comes into play when repair orders are created.

Type of link "A" (as needed replacement) which means that similar to type of link "C", the component being linked is required and to be applied/consumed in the manufacturing process of the parent part. When orders are created, a requirement will be created for a component with this type of link for the purpose of planning, stock picking and costing. In addition, this type of link flags a component a being an "as needed replacement" when repairs are undertaken for the parent part and this type of link thus also comes into play when repair orders are created. When this type of link is selected, the "Required" percentage must also be specified. When repair orders are launched with the standard repair logic, the standard calculated qty will be multiplied with the as needed percentage to calculate the required qty for the part (e.g. order qty = 10, required percent = 50, required qty = 10 x qty per 1 x 0.5 = 5).
