This function is used to set up parameters that must be displayed during a standard query that was set up in advance. The user must select a Part in the Part Number field and add all required fields, and click the Apply button that will store the parameters for that Part.  On clicking the View button the Quick Query function will open with the required table already displayed in the table display field. The query can now be set to display the required fields in the results tab.

 

When the user is happy with the results, the query can be saved and be reused in the future for all the parts using the same query by only selecting the part and then the query linked to the selected part.

 

On this tab the following fields can be viewed:

The Apply button saves the settings and link them to the selected Part Number, and store them on the Summarised Product Structure table.  When an existing part number with parameter settings is selected and any changes was made to the settings, by clicking the Apply button will store the new settings in the Summarised Product Structure table.

This button can be used to delete a selected Part Number setup that includes all the settings linked to that Part Number. This will not delete the Part Number from the Part Master table, but only the group of settings stored on the Summarised Product Structure table.

When the setting "Show Only Active Structures" is checked, this field is enabled.  The default is today's date.

 

It is possible to adjust the bill of material effectivity date in order to accomplish a past, present, or future view of the product structure.

 

"Active" components would therefore include all the active product structure links with dates less than or equal to the specified bill of material effectivity date, as well as deleted product structure links, with dates greater than the specified bill of material effectivity date.

 

Take note that if a "Project" has been selected to view a contract/project specific BOM based on end-item serial number effectivity rather than dates, the portions of the multi-level BOM that are specific to the project, will ignore the effective date settings, since all components are "active" in the structure, but possibly only for a certain end-item range.

hmtoggle_plus1Exclude Utilised Only Parts

This option allows you to exclude parts in the Bill of material that do not form part of an item or assembly, but are utilized only in the manufacturing or repair process.

Typical "utilized only" items would include drawings, assembly instructions, manuals, tools, gauges and equipment.

 

Checking this option, would thus result in a list of BOM-items typically issued from stock to a production order and assembled into/consumed in the manufacturing process.

The part number must be entered and represents either a parent part of which the product structure is to be displayed, or a component part for which it's "where-used" results are to be displayed.

 

The part number is thus selected in combination with the Navigation direction.

 

The list displays Part numbers, as well as the description, source, fixed account setting and serial/lot control indicator for every part number in the list.

 

The number of characters to be entered before the list is shown is governed by the value of "populate length".

 

If the check box "Only parent parts for selected project" was checked, then only Parent part numbers in the product structure table that already contains a unique Bill of material for the selected Project, will be displayed in the "Part Number" list for selection.

The options in this frame can be applied to only explode/implode the Bill of material structure up to the point where a part number with the selected attribute is reached.

 

This serves as an aid when very large structures are exploded or imploded, to limit the explosion up to parts with the selected attributes.

If the total multi-level structure is to be viewed, or you need to peg the "where-used" up to end-item level, do NOT check any of these "stop" options.

 

Multiple options can be selected.  These options are applied in conjunction with all the other options on the screen.

 

The stop options have the following effect on the navigation routine:

"MRI (Master Record Index)" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as an "MRI" Therefore, even though an MRI assembly will have a product structure, the structure will display the MRI item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"MRP (Planned by MRP)" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as "MRP planned". Therefore, even though an MRP-planned assembly may have a product structure, the structure will display the MRP item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"MSI (Maintenance Significant Item)" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as an "MSI". Therefore, even though an MSI may have a product structure, the structure will display the MSI item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"MPS (Master Production Scheduled)"  checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as an "MPSI" item. Therefore, even though an MPS  assembly will very likely have a product structure, the structure will display the MPS item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"Repairable" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as a "repairable" item Therefore, even though a repairable assembly will very likely have a product structure, the structure will display the repairable item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"Obsolete" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond a part that has been identified as being Obsolete. Therefore, even though an obsolete item may have a product structure, the structure will display the obsolete part, but NOT the components in it's structure.

The options in this frame can be applied to only explode/implode the Bill of material structure up to the point where a part number with the selected source code is reached.

 

This serves as an aid when very large structures are exploded or imploded, to limit the explosion up to selected sources of supply.

If the total multi-level structure is to be viewed, or you need to peg the "where-used" up to end-item level, do NOT check any of the "stop at source" options.

 

Multiple sources can be selected.  These options are applied in conjunction with all the other options on the screen.

 

The stop options have the following effect on the navigation routine:

"Procured" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "purchased". Therefore, even if a purchased assembly may have a product structure, the structure will display the purchased item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"Subcontracted" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "subcontract". Therefore, even a subcontracted part has a product structure, the structure will display the subcontract item, but NOT the components in it'

s structure.

 

"Manufactured" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "manufactured". Therefore, even though a manufactured part has a product structure, the structure will display the manufactured item, but NOT the sub-assemblies/components in it's structure.

 

"Phantom" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "phantom". Therefore, even though a phantom part has a product structure, the structure will display the phantom item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"Interplant" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "interplant". Therefore, even though an interplant part (similar to a manufactured part) has a product structure, the structure will display the interplant item, but NOT the components in it's structure.

 

"Customer furnished" checked: The multi-level process will not go beyond the source of "customer furnished". Therefore, even if a customer furnished assembly may have a product structure, the structure will display the CFI, but NOT the components in it's structure.

This setting governs whether only active components or all components in the product structure are to be displayed.  It is used in conjunction with the "Effectivity Date" field.

 

When checked, and the user has entered an effectivity date, only components in the product structure that are active on the selected date, will be displayed.

 

When unchecked, it will display all components in the product structure, whether active or inactive.

 

This option, combined with a selected effective date, allows past, present and future views of the product structure.

 

Take note that if a "Project" has been selected to view a contract/project specific BOM based on end-item serial number effectivity rather than dates, the portions of the multi-level BOM that are specific to the project, will ignore the effective date settings, since all components are "active" in the structure, but possibly only for a certain end-item range.

If the inquiry results in the display of 1 or more components or parents for the selected part, the "summarised view" option will be enabled.

 

Clicking this option specifies that a summarised view of the results must be displayed. The result therefore does not display the bill of material levels as is done in an indented fashion, but rather lists every component part in the structure only once, displaying it's total (composite) quantity per. Parts that would normally appear more than once in the structure as displayed in the structure of different parent parts/sub assemblies, would thus be displayed only once with visibility of the total quantity required in the structure of the part for which the summarized inquiry was performed.

 

This option also enables the subsequent tabs that allows the user to specify selective engineering and planning parameters, as well as special select criteria and the data columns required

for the output results.

 

Once all parameters have been set, the "Results" tab must be clicked to view the output. The output can be sorted, the column order can be changed and the results can then be exported for the purpose of printing a report or for any other purpose.
